Acts 1:8 Ministry launches scholarship to lend a helping hand to students who share a passion for spreading kindness throughout their community so that they can attain their educational goals.

August 24, 2019 /MarketersMedia/ —

Acts 1:8 Ministry announces a $500 scholarship opportunity to any high school student who will be graduating in this calendar year and has been accepted to a college, trade school, or design school. Students who are currently enrolled in either a college, trade school or design school are also invited to apply for this scholarship. All applicants must believe in the mission of spreading kindness in their communities.

As Acts 1:8 Ministry states, “We believe in empowering young individuals to spread kindness throughout their community and acknowledge that higher education can play a pivotal role in helping shape their foundation and dedication to community service.”

Acts 1:8 Ministry is a Christian organization whose mission is to spread kindness throughout the world by evangelizing and performing good works. Their relationship statement states, “Do unto to others as you would have done unto you.” (Luke 6:31). They demonstrate this commitment to spreading kindness globally by working on projects such as drilling water wells and building towers to provide clean water to hundreds of thousands of African citizens. They are also active in the United States and give help to any Christian organization who is looking for ways to reach out with kindness to humanity.

To apply for this scholarship, all applicants should complete the form located on the Acts 1:8 Ministry scholarship website.

As part of the scholarship process all applicants will be asked to write a 500-word essay on the following question, “How have you helped spread kindness in your community and how has it made you think differently about yourself, others, and the world around us?”. The deadline for scholarship application submissions is October 31, 2019. The Acts 1:8 Ministry Scholarship Committee will then review all of the scholarship applications and select a winner during November 2019.

Innovative fashion designers lead the way on sustainability

Feb 24, 2020

LONDON — Innovative fashion designers are turning to such things as horseradish and nettles to make sustainable clothing and accessories to the delight of a growing number of buyers. While more consumers are paying closer attention to how the production of goods impacts the environment, old habits die hard. A buy-and-toss mentality persists despite a boost from celebrities helping to drive the upcycle and vintage movements. Actress Maggie Q, who created an activewear line from recycled fabrics, is among activists who see plenty of room for improvement. She says she feels "sick about fast fashion.'' "You hear people say, 'Well,...

Queen Elizabeth honors Booker Prize winner Margaret Atwood

Feb 24, 2020

LONDON — Shortly after winning her second Booker Prize, Margaret Atwood has received a rare honor from Queen Elizabeth II for her services to literature. The Canadian novelist and poet was presented with an Order of the Companions of Honor in a ceremony at Windsor Castle Friday. She said the experience made her "a bit emotional." The Press Association quoted Atwood as saying that "when you see the Queen at her age and her schedule that she puts out, it's an inspiration to everybody, you just keep going." Atwood and British author Bernardine Evaristo split the Booker Prize ten days...

BBC faces backlash after censuring anchor for Trump remarks

Feb 24, 2020

LONDON — The BBC faced a backlash Friday after finding one of its presenters in breach of its editorial guidelines on impartiality for comments that were critical of U.S. President Donald Trump. Journalists and celebrities were demanding that the BBC overturn its decision and expressed support for BBC Breakfast anchor Naga Munchetty, who was discussing Trump's remark that four female American lawmakers should return to the "broken and crime infested places from which they came." Co-anchor, Dan Walker, asked Munchetty for her opinion on the July 17 program, and she responded: "Every time I have been told, as a woman...

British prime minister's aide divides, but will he conquer?

Feb 24, 2020

LONDON — To some, he's a strategic genius. Others call him a mayhem-loving anarchist. Everyone seems to have an opinion about Dominic Cummings. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's most powerful aide — dubbed "Boris' brain" by some — is an enigmatic backstage operator who shuns media attention, yet has been played onscreen by "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch. Since taking office two months ago, Johnson has made a series of bold moves: Promising Brexit "do or die," dealing ruthlessly with party rebels and controversially suspending Parliament. Many see Cummings' hand at work in the strategy, which has left Westminster shaken and...

Soccer star says Amazon didn't remove racist reviews of book

Feb 24, 2020

LONDON — Soccer star Eni Aluko has condemned Amazon for not removing racist reviews of her memoir posted on the online retailer's web site. Of the 31 reviews on Amazon's United Kingdom site, 27 gave "They Don't Teach This" a one-star rating. The book details the discrimination Aluko faced during her England career. Customers have used the platform to call the book "anti-white racist drivel" and "fiction" and accuse the Juventus forward of choosing to "play the race card" and "coming across as a racist herself." Aluko, who is black, and her publishers have asked Amazon to delete the racist...
