Mackler Associates Offers Free Consultation for PSAT Score Evaluation

Mackler Associates helps students and parents understand the results of their PSAT. They offer a free half-hour consultation to review results, answer questions, and plan future test preparation.

St. Louis, United States - November 26, 2018 /PressCable/ —

St. Louis, MO (November 2018) –Thousands of juniors across our area took the PSAT in October. While the PSAT, as a shorter version of the SAT, serves as a qualifying test for National Merit scholarships, it principally serves as an introduction to the SAT and provides excellent feedback on whether a student should take the SAT and what the student might need to improve upon before taking the test.

On December 10, 2018, students and parents will have a chance to create an account and access online the results of the test. The report actually contains a great deal of data, and not everyone knows exactly how to read it or interpret what it means. The report will contain all of your test answers, the correct answers, and several indices of scores. The most important scores to you immediately will be your verbal score (out of 760), math score (out of 760) and your index score (for scholarship purposes). You will see subscores for critical reading, writing and multiple math categories. You will receive your test booklet back from your school counselor at some point, but in the meantime, all of your actual answers and the explanations for the questions you missed will be featured online.

The data is key to planning a student’s college admissions exams prep – not only providing information about the PSAT itself, but also whether the SAT or ACT might be the better test fit.

To help students and parents understand the results better, Mackler Associates is offering a free half-hour consultation in its office to review the results, answer any questions about them, and help plan out future test preparation.

Anyone who would like to take advantage of this offer is encouraged to contact Jason Marks at Mackler Associates, either via email at jsmarks@mackleradvantage.com or by phone at (314) 434-4431 to schedule an appointment. Mackler Associates also has a Facebook page.

Winter and spring test dates in both the ACT and the SAT are fast approaching, so scheduling test preparation now would be ideal.

Innovative fashion designers lead the way on sustainability

Aug 7, 2020

LONDON — Innovative fashion designers are turning to such things as horseradish and nettles to make sustainable clothing and accessories to the delight of a growing number of buyers. While more consumers are paying closer attention to how the production of goods impacts the environment, old habits die hard. A buy-and-toss mentality persists despite a boost from celebrities helping to drive the upcycle and vintage movements. Actress Maggie Q, who created an activewear line from recycled fabrics, is among activists who see plenty of room for improvement. She says she feels "sick about fast fashion.'' "You hear people say, 'Well,...

Queen Elizabeth honors Booker Prize winner Margaret Atwood

Aug 7, 2020

LONDON — Shortly after winning her second Booker Prize, Margaret Atwood has received a rare honor from Queen Elizabeth II for her services to literature. The Canadian novelist and poet was presented with an Order of the Companions of Honor in a ceremony at Windsor Castle Friday. She said the experience made her "a bit emotional." The Press Association quoted Atwood as saying that "when you see the Queen at her age and her schedule that she puts out, it's an inspiration to everybody, you just keep going." Atwood and British author Bernardine Evaristo split the Booker Prize ten days...

BBC faces backlash after censuring anchor for Trump remarks

Aug 7, 2020

LONDON — The BBC faced a backlash Friday after finding one of its presenters in breach of its editorial guidelines on impartiality for comments that were critical of U.S. President Donald Trump. Journalists and celebrities were demanding that the BBC overturn its decision and expressed support for BBC Breakfast anchor Naga Munchetty, who was discussing Trump's remark that four female American lawmakers should return to the "broken and crime infested places from which they came." Co-anchor, Dan Walker, asked Munchetty for her opinion on the July 17 program, and she responded: "Every time I have been told, as a woman...

British prime minister's aide divides, but will he conquer?

Aug 7, 2020

LONDON — To some, he's a strategic genius. Others call him a mayhem-loving anarchist. Everyone seems to have an opinion about Dominic Cummings. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's most powerful aide — dubbed "Boris' brain" by some — is an enigmatic backstage operator who shuns media attention, yet has been played onscreen by "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch. Since taking office two months ago, Johnson has made a series of bold moves: Promising Brexit "do or die," dealing ruthlessly with party rebels and controversially suspending Parliament. Many see Cummings' hand at work in the strategy, which has left Westminster shaken and...

Soccer star says Amazon didn't remove racist reviews of book

Aug 7, 2020

LONDON — Soccer star Eni Aluko has condemned Amazon for not removing racist reviews of her memoir posted on the online retailer's web site. Of the 31 reviews on Amazon's United Kingdom site, 27 gave "They Don't Teach This" a one-star rating. The book details the discrimination Aluko faced during her England career. Customers have used the platform to call the book "anti-white racist drivel" and "fiction" and accuse the Juventus forward of choosing to "play the race card" and "coming across as a racist herself." Aluko, who is black, and her publishers have asked Amazon to delete the racist...
